2012 Visual Arts Student Awards

 

EVENT:

The annual statewide VASA Exhibition, representing the finest examples of secondary student art (grades 7-12) in the state! Presented this year by the Arizona Art Education Association and The Art Institute of Phoenix.

The show will be held April 2nd through the 15th at The Art Institute of Phoenix, in Phoenix, Arizona.

 

LOCATION:

As many of you know, the previous VASA Exhibitions have been held at the West Valley Art Museum, which unfortunately was forced to close its doors. We have continued to seek out new museum locations to exhibit the VASA show, however many of these venues are booked for several years to come. Exhibiting the show in a museum continues to be our goal for future shows.

We are excited, however, to announce that this year, for a third time, The Art Institute of Phoenix has stepped up to assist us in a difficult situation and has agreed to provide VASA with an exhibit space so that we may continue to put together an exemplary student show.

 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

•     Each art educator may enter up to two pieces

•     Each entry must be from a different student (one piece per student)

•     The first 75 teachers to submit entry forms will be admitted to the show.

•     The artwork must be dropped off at The Art Institute of Phoenix on Saturday, March 31st from 1-5pm.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS:

Entries must be original work, executed by the artist’s own hand, without mechanicals, projected images or reproduced/traced images.

*size requirements will be strictly enforced, any work exceeding size limitations will be rejected at drop-off

 

2-Dimensional Work

• NOT TO EXCEED 30”x 30”

• Must be in a black frame

• Must be framed with glass (no plexi glass)

• Must be wired for installation (no saw tooth)

 

3-Dimensional Work

• NOT TO EXCEED 20”x 20”x 20”

• If you have a clear protective box or case for jewelry, that may also be submitted with the work.

 

THERE WILL BE NO PORTFOLIO SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED THIS YEAR

 

*Non-compliance with any of the admission guidelines will result in immediate disqualification. Please read all the rules, twice. If you have questions about the potential pieces you plan to enter, please contact us at the numbers below.

 

The 2012 VASA exhibition will run from April 2nd through April 15th, 2012.

 

The Artists’ Reception is Sunday, April 15th, 2012 from 11 to 1 PM.

 

Awards Ceremony is Sunday, April 15th, 2012 at 12:00 PM
