Each year the Arizona Art Education recognizes those who have gone above and beyond in their service to the field of Art Education. These award recipients are announced and honored at our annual State Conference.
AzAEA would like to encourage you to nominate an individual or organization for these prestigious awards in order to be recognized and honored. The following gives an overview of the awards process:
Objectives:
- To recognize excellence in the many outstanding individuals and programs of AAEA.
- To focus professional attention on quality art education and exemplary art educators.
- To increase public awareness of the importance of quality art education.
- To set standards for quality art education and show how they can be achieved.
- To provide tangible recognition of achievement, earn respect of colleagues, and enhance professional opportunities for AAEA members.

Eligibility
AAEA members who meet the established criteria written in each category below. Membership is not required for the Distinguished Service (Outside the Profession) award or the Supervision/Administration award.
Award Selection
Nominations and supporting materials must be submitted to the AAEA Awards Committee Chairperson by July 30th. The Awards Committee will assess nominations based on a corresponding rubric for that particular award.
Upon notification, each award recipient is asked to provide a one page resume, two letters of recommendation, photograph and pertinent information so press releases may be sent by AAEA to employers, local media, art departments, school administrators, etc.
Deadlines
Award Packets must be submitted to the appropriate AAEA person by July 30 unless otherwise stated. This timeline allows the selection committee sufficient time to review documentation, verify membership, make final decision and submit the names of the winning recipients to NAEA by October 1.
Award Presentations
Arizona Awards are presented in the fall at the annual AAEA Conference. Winners are also announced in the AAEA newsletter National Awards are presented in the spring at the annual NAEA convention.
Press Release
Upon notification, each award recipient is asked to provide pertinent information so press releases may be sent by AAEA to employers, local media, art departments, school administrators, etc.
Be sure to submit to the AAEA Awards Coordinator the following for all award nominations : A Nomination Form, Include a one-page resume and two letters of recommendation and a photograph, or digital photograph burned to disk (.JPG format).
