Institute on African Arts

The National Endowment for the Arts and Northern Kentucky University are presenting an 8-9-day Institute on African Arts in June of 2011. Participants will be immersed in African culture by living with four Ghanaian artisans for 8-9 days, so it can be a very rich experience for social studies teachers and anyone who teaches elementary grades also. AzAEA says goodbye to Ellery Gibson

Ellery Gibson, a founding father of AAEA, a constant and contributing officer and member of AAEA through to the date of his retirement in 1981, has died (obituary follows). While some of you may not even recognize the name, many others in our profession will remember him well.

Out of respect for his many labors of love for art education in Arizona please consider contributing to a new Fine Arts Scholarship very recently established in his name at NAU.
